Professional Residency at the Frances Willard Historical Association

During the academic year 2015-2016, I was the scholar in residence at the Frances Willard Historical Association (FWHA) in Evanston, IL. Below are the major projects I completed, and the letter of evaluation written by my professional mentor, Glen Madeja.

Interpretive Plan and Docent Manual -
Signature Project

The interpretive plan that I created contains goals, objectives, interpretive and docent resources for the museum. It was created with the long-term needs of the museum in mind. I collaborated with the docents, executive director, and a Willard scholar to create the plan.

Aunnual Appeal Suite

In the fall of 2015, I wrote a new annual appeal letter for FWHA. With the input of board members, the letter became streamlined and more effective. I wrote a companion thank you letter and designed the appeal pledge card.

DAR Grant - Awarded

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Special Projects Grants Program provides local community grant funding to support projects exemplifying the organization's mission areas of Historic Preservation, Education and Patriotism.

With a sponsoring letter from the Fort Dearborn chapter of the DAR, I wrote and FWHA received the almost $10,000 grant to fund the repainting of decorative finishes primarily in the hall of Rest Cottage, which is the original part of the Frances Willard House.
